Case Study Highland Safaris Aberfeldy, Perthshire
Case Study Highland Safaris Highland Safaris is based just outside Aberfeldy, Perthshire, and has developed over its 25 years into an award winning, five-star tourism destination with a range of activities for groups and families.

The core of the business is the Land Rover Hilltop Safaris, guided by award winning rangers who describe the history, geography, geology, wildlife and landscape features, pointing out spectacular views over Perthshire. Variations on this Safari trip can include a forest walk, off road driving experience, and a gourmet picnic in our hilltop bothy.

In addition, we have a Red Deer Centre with tame farm deer. Visitors are given a detailed explanation of their life in the hills and their seasonal habits and can hand feed the deer. Other family activities on site include mountain biking, gold panning and meeting the friendly Barn Owl Ossian. We have a great cafe with a full breakfast and lunch menu and home baking, and a gift shop selling highland tweed and wildlife themed gifts and homewares.

In 2017 we launched Loch Tay Safaris, a luxury five-star, 1.5-hour cruise on Loch Tay in our specially commissioned boat, with expert commentary on the history, folklore, heritage, landscape and wildlife of the loch. This venture was also awarded five stars by the tourist board in its first year. We cater to the corporate and private event markets, hosting weddings, corporate incentives and parties in the hilltop bothy, and hilltop marquee, and all our Safaris and tours can be taken as private charters.

We employ a team of staff for the cafe and kitchen, a team of expert rangers to guide the Safaris, a reservations management team, and many local professional services. Our cafe menu uses local produce and ingredients, and the best of these are showcased in our hilltop picnics.

Highland Safaris exists to share our knowledge and love of the land, its history, features and wildlife with visitors of all ages. We open all year and tailor our tours to match the seasons, with special Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter Watch Safaris available, and a Summer Sundowner cruise on Loch Tay. We are passionate about our business and our visitor reviews reflect our friendly, welcoming style and efforts to enthuse our visitors with the wonderful scenery and history of the area.
