Case Study The byre Inchyra Estate
Case Study The byre Inchyra House sits overlooking the picturesque Ochil Hills, just outside of Perth. This regency mansion is owned by the Inchyra family and is an enterprising example of a country house in the 21st century.

The family recently renovated the old Byre converting it from a crumbling pile into one of the most sought after, and romantic, wedding venues in Scotland. The philosophy at Inchyra when converting the byre was not to touch anything that didn't need to be touched, which resulted in the character of the old barn being entirely retained. Every possible piece of wood, slate and stone was saved and re-used. The Byre is now a triumph with vaulted timber roofs, rough stone walls, original stone cattle troughs and the old sunken cattle court now forming a unique central dance floor.

Always looking for ways to modernise and improve the business, the dynamic husband and wife team at Inchyra decided to set up the Inchyra Arts club, where musicians, comedians and actors can come along and perform in the Byre. This thrilling combination of the rural and urban has created one of the coolest clubs in the countryside. The Byre is one of the most popular parts of the Inchyra estate, and hosts about 50 couples a year for weddings, as well as many more for the live arts club.

The last enterprise of the Inchyra enterprises is made up by Inchyra Designs and Fabric, which are a a range of uniquely aged linen that the Inchyra family began producing before the Byre and Arts Club were born in 2014. Working with printers in Cheshire and finishers in Lancashire, Caroline Inchyra has developed a range of uniquely and beautifully aged fabrics that sit perfectly in any property and bring a historical romance to the place.

The Inchyra family are not short of brilliant ideas, and have successfully created a wonderful and forward thinking business that has put Scotland on the map.
