Case Study Haddo Link Path The Formartine Partnership has recently opened a new path that links the village of Methlick with the very popular destinations of Haddo House (NTS) and Haddo Country Park.

Following many months of hard work and effort together with excellent cooperation from Lord Aberdeen, the owner of Haddo Estate, this new link path was officially opened on Monday 23rd April by Lady Aberdeen. Flowers were presented to Lady Aberdeen by Emma Lawrence from Methlick Primary School.

It had been a long-held ambition of the Formartine Partnership to create a multi-user long distance path through the beautiful Ythan Valley: The Ythan Trail, one that would go all of the way from Newburgh on the coast up to Fyvie Castle, and this section of new pathway is a ‘step in the right direction’ or more correctly a number of steps.

This new link path has been created specifically for a wide range of people making it suitable for walkers, cyclists, Mum’s with pushchairs, wheelchair users, and more. It is hard surfaced, and crosses burns on newly built bridges, there are gates at the entrance and exit as well as two in the central section, but all of these features have been designed to allow an easy passage for all.
