Case Study Investing in People Marking the start of Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2017, Ballogie Estate recently hosted Alexander Burnett MSP at the Potarch Café & Restaurant to meet two of their young apprentices 

Mr Burnett was joined by Jacqueline Reid from Skills Development Scotland and also Mairi Docherty from Goal Training to speak to Nicolle Stewart and Marco Rossetti about their training journey and personal development.

Nicolle is currently undertaking an SVQ3 Modern Apprenticeship in Management, and Marco is studying for an SVQ3 Modern Apprenticeship in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership. Nicolle and Marco both joined the Ballogie Estate team in 2016.

Ballogie Estate is committed to investing in its employees and is proud to support its staff achieve personal goals which enhance their development in the workplace. The estate takes particular pride in being an ‘Investors in People’ employer.

As well as the achievements of the apprentices Nicolle and Marco, staff working at Potarch Café & Restaurant have recently completed their World Host Training, First Aid in the Workplace and a manual handling course. While Chef Darren MacLellan has just been awarded his Intermediate Food Hygiene course through Aberdeenshire Council and Head Chef Claire Horsfall has just completed courses on cheese making and venison butchery.
Mr Burnett said: “I was delighted to meet the staff and apprentices at the Potarch Café, which is a thriving local business on the Ballogie Estate.”

Nicolle added: “I feel very lucky to have had this opportunity, the course supports my personal development while allowing me to continue in the workplace gaining valuable experience.”
