Case Study Driving the rural economy For 500 years the Pringles of Torwoodlee have been supporting local families and businesses, understanding the importance of maintaining a thriving local economy and keeping alive the skills and relationships that endure over the years.

Recently Torwoodee Estate purchased a new Mitsubishi L200 pickup from a Scottish Land & Estates trade member, Adam Purves Mitsubishi, the third one in so many years. Whilst in itself this doesn't seem to be a remarkable story, the continued loyalty to a local supplier for nearly 100 years is a true reflection of the contribution made by land based businesses across rural communities.

The main picture of the Bullnose Morris is actually the sister vehicle to one purchased by Torwoodlee Estate from the very same company in 1922 which has been trading in the Scottish Borders continuously since 1879. The vehicle and its partner were delivered to Galashiels on the train which brought freight into the centre of the Scottish Borders from all over the country and collected local produce destined for the city. The Borders Railway (Waverley Line) has recently re-opened although these days it only transports foot passengers.

James Pringle of Torwoodlee and Buckholm Estates said "This is one of many examples of good service being rewarded with continued and repeat business and I look forward to maintaining that business ethic in the future"
