Helping It Happen 2017 National Awards Sponsors

Working with Communities Award and Main Sponsor

The MacRobert Trust

The MacRobert Trust is the proud keeper of an historic legacy, one that informs everything we do.

The Trust is both landowner and charity, and we discharge both these duties within a modern context but with the philosophy of our benefactor, Lady MacRobert, at the heart of nearly every decision we make.

Her legacy lives on through our continuing connection with the military, with the countryside and farming, and in our commitment to our charitable work, in particular our assistance to young people to help them achieve their potential no matter what disadvantages they may face.

Iver Salvesen Green Business Award

Iver Salvesen was an active member of the Southeast Regional Committee of Scottish Land and Estates from 2008-2016. Living in the Scottish Borders, he was a farmer, builder and developer who believed deeply in the importance of renewable energy and preserving the environment. His wish to learn about this subject prompted his return to university to earn a MSc in Architecture and Environmental Studies in 2013.

His primary focus in his final years was to design and build environmentally friendly homes, as well as to oversee the installation of renewable energy systems into homes, farms and estates. He recently began the design and build of one of the first straw bale houses in Scotland, which was built almost entirely by volunteers.

Iver died tragically and suddenly in July 2016 whilst doing volunteer work in Tanzania, where he was building houses for widows and orphans.
